Dear Steve:

\JEnclosed is a copy of the memorandum \F1Computer vision and its
relevance to the Defense Department\F0 to which I referred in my
network note of this date.

I am also helping write the general report on AI and its relevance
to the Defense Department, but since the vision memorandum I had previously
promised was mostly done, and because perhaps not everyone would agree
with the views about direct military applications expressed in the memo,
I decided to finish it and send it separately. This is not to indicate that
I expect to disagree in any way with the conclusions of the AI report.

If you are still interested, I would like to come and talk with you
about vision, AI, and computer science generally.\.

					Sincerely yours,
